Position Overview

Our client Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join their Children with Disabilities team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions, focusing on functional independence, safety and improving outcomes for children and their families.
  • Conduct specialist housing and environmental assessments, identifying the need for adaptations that enable children to access essential facilities within their homes.
  • Work in close partnership with the Home Improvement Agency (HIA) to facilitate Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG), providing professional recommendations to inform DFG applications, collaborating with HIA caseworkers and surveyors to design appropriate adaptations, and ensuring that proposed works meet the assessed needs of the child.
  • Remain involved throughout the adaptation journey, from initial assessment through to completion, ensuring outcomes are safe, effective and sustainable.
  • Collaborate with social workers, health professionals, education settings and housing partners to coordinate a holistic approach to care planning.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, manage a varied caseload and confidently make clinical decisions in complex situations.
