Purpose of the Job

To carry out our statutory duties and responsibilities to safeguard and achieve good outcomes for the children and young people of Hertfordshire.

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage and be professionally accountable, with supervision and support, for your own social work practice with children, young people, families, carers, groups, individuals and partner agencies.
  • Assess needs thoroughly to a good standard, analytically consider risk and develop integrated multi‑agency safeguarding plans in line with Working Together 2015.
  • Professionally manage risk to children, young people, families, carers, self and others.
  • Involve children (age appropriate and child‑centred), young people, families, carers, groups and partner agencies in all meetings that may affect them, listen actively to what they have to say and signpost for advocacy support if needed or wanted.
  • Ensure all options are explored before deciding on a plan and involve children (age appropriate and child‑centred), young people, families, carers, groups and partner agencies in decision making.

Qualifications and Requirements

Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS. The role requires assessed experience, skills and knowledge appropriate to the cases assigned.
