Remedy Recruitment Group are currently seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to work within Greenwich Council's Children with Disabilities Team.

Job Purpose

  • Model reliable effective social work practice that safeguards and promotes the welfare of children in need, including children in complex situations with high levels of need and risk, so that children maintain a reasonable standard of health and development, receive reasonable parenting, and a sense of permanence through secure attachment to their parents or carers.
  • Where a child is disabled, take action to minimise the effect of their disabilities and give them the opportunity to lead lives which are as normal as possible.
  • Model effective planning and decision making to secure timely permanence for children who cannot live at home.
  • Where children are looked after, ensure their needs are met in accordance with their care plan, they receive the right support as care leavers are ready to fulfil their potential as adults.
  • Model effective practice that places children at the centre of professional activity, and that their views and wishes (appropriate to their age and understanding) are sought and used to understand the child's world and shape the level of intervention and type of help offered.
  • Provide effective professional leadership, co-ordinate and resolution of professional disagreement amongst professionals working together to meet the needs of children in need, including those with a child protection plan, privately fostered children, and looked after children and care leavers.
  • Provide professional leadership within the team; take delegated responsibility for developing less experienced social workers and learning and improvement actions; promote high standards of professional conduct and compliance with good practice standards; act as a change champion in implementing innovation, service improvement and changes in organisational arrangements.
