Our client Leicester City Council is looking for an Advanced Practitioner to join their Children in Need team.

Purpose:

To undertake a range of duties to support Team Managers and the professional development of international Social Workers, newly qualified Social Workers, and learning and development across the division by providing decisive and effective leadership to team(s) in line with the council's 'Vision & Values' and 'Leadership Qualities' that enables them to do their best work resulting in high levels of people and organisational performance. Lead areas of service development to provide quality social work services to children and their families and meet the full range of statutory requirements, regulations, and national minimum standards.

Job Activities:

  • Leading People / Social Worker Development: Develop and support less experienced Social Workers to build and develop Social Work Practice and learn and embed practice principles and tools into practice. Work in partnership with team managers, service manager and the Learning and Development team to support a comprehensive induction and training programme to support ongoing learning and development. Support Social Workers and differently qualified practitioners in applying the practice framework, legislation, and policy they have learnt in discussions/training opportunities and through work with children and families.
  • Service Compliance & Development: Act as best practice resource for the service and maintain up-to-date knowledge of research. Contribute to the development of divisional procedure, policy, and relevant guidance. Promote and support evidence-based practice. Work across the service to ensure it is compliant with statutory regulations, policy, and national minimum standards.
  • Supervising People: Allocate to and oversee work carried out by allocated temporary staff/volunteers. Involve team/s in creating a shared purpose to help them develop and achieve results. Give clear direction. Explore and understand the views of the team and adapt style and behaviour as necessary to ensure positive outcomes. Show respect for the views of others by recognising their contribution and valuing diversity.
