Our client Trafford council is looking for a Children's Social Worker to join their Emergency duty team.

Duties:

  • Provides emergency social work support for children and families outside normal office hours.
  • Responds to urgent safeguarding concerns, child protection referrals, and crises.
  • Undertakes risk assessments to ensure children's immediate safety and welfare.
  • Makes emergency decisions regarding accommodation or protection of children.
  • Works closely with police, hospitals, and other emergency services.
  • Attends emergency strategy discussions and safeguarding meetings.
  • Supports children at risk of harm, abuse, neglect, or family breakdown.
  • Arranges emergency placements for children when required.
  • Provides advice and support to professionals and families during crises.
  • Maintains accurate records and handovers for daytime social work teams.
  • Ensures all actions comply with safeguarding legislation and local authority procedures.
  • Manages high-pressure situations and makes timely, informed decisions to protect children and young people.
