Our client Leicestershire County Council is looking for a Children's Senior Social Worker to join their Safeguarding team.

Main duties:

  • Manage complex safeguarding and child protection cases involving children and families at risk.
  • Complete statutory assessments, Section 47 enquiries, and risk assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and review child protection and child in need plans.
  • Carry out regular home visits and ensure the child's voice is central to decision-making.
  • Prepare reports for court, child protection conferences, and statutory reviews.
  • Work closely with police, schools, health services, and other partner agencies.
  • Attend and contribute to strategy meetings, core groups, and safeguarding conferences.
  • Initiate legal proceedings where necessary to safeguard children.
  • Maintain accurate case records in line with legislation and local authority procedures.
  • Support and mentor junior social workers and provide practice guidance.
  • Assist team managers with complex decision-making and quality assurance.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, policies, and professional standards.
