Our client Blackpool council is looking for an Adults Social Worker to join their Safeguarding team.
Role Purpose
The provision of professional social work support safeguarding enquiries and interventions to enable individuals to maximise and maintain their independence and quality of life in a range of settings and provide proportionate protections from abuse and neglect for adults with care and support needs. To support individuals, their families and carers to ensure that their social care needs are met by undertaking holistic assessments, the provision of advice and information and facilitating access to a range of services. That they are safeguarded from abuse or neglect (or the risk of abuse or neglect). To ensure that the voice of people supported and their families and carers are heard during the safeguarding process.
Duties
- To undertake assessments/reviews and where appropriate the commissioning of services, in line with departmental policies, procedures and statutory guidance e.g. the Care Act (2014).
- To understand and take appropriate part in the service's safeguarding adults' procedures. This includes, identification, investigation and at Grade H2 taking the role of Safeguarding Lead.
- To work closely with other teams and partner agencies, including undertaking joint enquiries/assessments, with providers, carers and external agencies to deliver outcomes to individuals and their families.
- To fully comply with departmental policies and procedures and the Social Work England Code of Conduct and professional standards for Social Workers including the professional capability framework.
- To comply with the requirements of the Care Act (2014) by empowering individuals to make informed choices and ensuring support from a representative or advocate is in place where required.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of current issues and developments relating to social care and the wider health and social care agenda.
- Model consistent quality practice in safeguarding adults across Council teams, which is compliant with the relevant policies, procedures and statutory frameworks.
- Facilitate safeguarding enquiries to be made by partner agencies or commissioned providers.
- Prepare for, attend and actively participate in professional supervision and staff meetings.
- Fully utilise the service's IT facilities to maintain accurate records and record decisions in line with both statutory and service requirements and comply with administrative and financial procedures.
