We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced SEN Tutor to support young learners in the Croydon area. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the academic and emotional development of students with Special Educational Needs.

Location: Croydon

Start date: Immediate

Hours: Flexible – part-time or full-time opportunities available

Pay: £25‑£35 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering tailored 1:1 tuition to students who may be out of school, on reduced timetables, or require additional support due to a range of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other complex needs. Sessions may take place in the student's home or a suitable community setting.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in core subjects
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of each learner
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and their families
  • Support student's emotional development, confidence and readiness to learn
  • Monitor and report on student progress

Requirements

  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent)
  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Ability to work independently and manage own schedule
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)

Desirable

  • Experience supporting students excluded from mainstream education
  • Training in behaviour management strategies (e.g. Team Teach, MAPA)
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs and SEN‑related support frameworks
