Job Description

Outreach SEN Tutor - Southend-On-Sea - 10/15 hours a week (you can also take 2 students to make this full time)
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced SEN Outreach Tutor to provide 1:1 home-based educational support for a student with severe autism.
This role involves working closely with the family and wider professionals to deliver personalised learning sessions in the home environment. The student can become dysregulated and may lash out when anxious or overwhelmed, so the successful candidate must be confident, calm, and experienced in managing behaviours of concern using positive, trauma-informed approaches.
The student is currently working significantly below age-related expectations and requires highly differentiated, personalised learning. Sessions will focus on foundational skills and learning through structured play-based and sensory-based approaches.
In line with safeguarding procedures, the successful candidate will work jointly with another tutor during sessions.
SEN / SEND Tutor requirements:

  • Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS / PGCE / B.Ed / PTLLS / DTLLS / CELTA)
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience
  • Experience working with young people with Additional Educational Needs
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
  • Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at cost if needed)
  • Two professional references
