SEMH Outreach Tutor based in Thurrock, Part time hours. Remedy are looking for dedicated SEMH Outreach Tutors to work with students across Thurrock, providing tailored 1:1 education and support outside of a mainstream setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one tutoring in Maths, English, or Functional Skills to students with SEMH needs.
  • Adapt lesson plans to meet individual learning and emotional needs.
  • Build positive relationships with students, fostering trust and engagement.
  • Monitor and track student progress, adjusting teaching methods as needed.
  • Collaborate with families and other professionals to ensure holistic support for the student.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally in an outreach or tutoring capacity.
  • Knowledge of different SEN categories (e.g., autism, dyslexia, ADHD, speech and language needs).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to a wide range of learning needs.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • A passion for education and helping children achieve their full potential.
  • A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) or relevant SEN training (e.g., SENDCO, SEN TA experience) is desirable but not essential.
