Purpose of the Role

At Remedy we are looking for a science technician to support the effective delivery of science education within a school in Greenwich by preparing practical materials, maintaining laboratories and equipment, ensuring health and safety compliance, and assisting teaching staff in creating a stimulating and safe learning environment for pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practical Preparation & Lesson Support
    • Prepare, set up, and clear away materials and equipment for science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
    • Support teachers during practical sessions when required, including demonstrations of equipment use.
    • Develop and trial practical activities and resources to support curriculum delivery.
  • Laboratory Management
    • Maintain laboratories, prep rooms, and storage areas to a high standard of cleanliness and organisation.
    • Ensure accurate stock control of chemicals, consumables, and equipment; place orders as needed in consultation with the Head of Science.
    • Carry out routine calibration, testing, and maintenance of equipment.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience working in a laboratory environment (school, industrial, or academic).
  • Good scientific knowledge across at least one discipline (biology, chemistry, or physics).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads independently.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety and safe handling of equipment and chemicals.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a school science technician.
  • A relevant science qualification (A-levels, BTEC, or degree-level).
  • Familiarity with CLEAPSS guidance and school laboratory procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to extracurricular STEM activities.
