A Science Technician is needed in a Mixed Secondary School & Sixth Form in Lewisham, South East London. This will be a part time long term Science Technician position with scope to go permanent. The timetable will be 3 days a week for this Science Technician post and the school is flexible on what days they can offer.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting and preparing practical lessons alongside the Science Teachers
  • Ensuring equipment and materials are safely stored when not in use
  • Guiding staff and pupils in correct Health & Safety policies
  • Maintaining and repairing all resources when required
  • Keeping track of what is out of stock and making the necessary orders when needed
  • Disposing of hazardous waste in a safe manner

The rates of pay for this Science Technician position will be between £15 to £17 per hour depending on the qualifications and experiences of each applicant.

The School:

An 'Outstanding' Secondary School & Sixth Form in the London Borough of Lewisham. It is a mixed, 11 - 18, non-selective school with a wide demographic of pupils and staff. 90% of students stay in education or employment after Key Stage 4. The site has its own dedicated SEN Support Centre and a variety of sports facilities. Ofsted have noted there is a positive culture of learning and a strong sense of community.

Requirements:

You're welcome to apply if you're a recent Science Graduate or experienced Science Technician. Applications are also welcome if you're British trained Science Technician or overseas trained Science Technician. All applicants must have the following in order to be considered for this position as a Science Technician:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Clear and up to date Enhanced DBS
  • UK Science Degree or overseas equivalent
  • COSHH trained/basic Health & Safety knowledge
  • Experience in a lab setting or as a Science Technician in a UK school
