School Finance Assistant – Secondary SchoolLocation: Southwark, South East LondonStart Date: ASAPHours: 8:30am – 4.30pm, Monday to FridaySalary: Β£18 – Β£22 per hour (dependent on experience)Contract: Full-time, Term-Time, Temporary (with potential for permanent placement)

About the Role:

A busy and supportive Secondary school in Southwark is looking to appoint a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join their administrative team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with school-based finance experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase orders, invoices, and payments in line with school financial procedures
  • Assist in budget monitoring and provide administrative support to the School Business Manager
  • Maintain accurate records of income, expenditure, and financial transactions
  • Liaise with suppliers, staff, and external agencies regarding financial queries
  • Support the preparation of financial reports for leadership and governors
  • Ensure compliance with all school finance and audit policies

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a school finance or administrative role (SIMS/FMS experience desirable)
  • Strong numeracy and IT skills, particularly in Excel
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
