In the right environment, creativity can change everything. We are working closely with a school where students express themselves through drama, film, digital media, and performance but sometimes, when emotions are harder to process, that expression comes out as behaviour. We are working with a forward-thinking secondary school in Islington looking for a full-time Behaviour Teaching Assistant with a background in Drama or Creative Media. Someone who understands expression, presence, and emotional awareness and can use those skills to support students who need it most.

This role would suit someone who is naturally calm, emotionally intelligent, and consistent, someone who can read a room, build trust, and help students regulate and re-engage.

What the role involves:

  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups who experience behavioural or emotional challenges
  • Using drama, performance, or creative media as tools for expression and engagement
  • Acting as a calm, grounded presence during moments of heightened emotion
  • Helping students reflect, reset, and return to learning
  • Supporting lessons, workshops, and creative activities across the school
  • Working closely with pastoral teams, SENCOs, and teaching staff
  • Encouraging confidence, self-expression, and positive decision-making
  • Recognising progress, even the small wins that matter most

This role would suit someone who:

  • Has a background in Drama, Performing Arts, or Creative Media (film, photography, content creation, etc.)
  • Stays calm under pressure and understands that behaviour is often communication
  • Has experience in youth work, mentoring, SEN, SEMH or similar settings (helpful, not essential)
  • Can build strong relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Brings energy, creativity and emotional awareness into their work
  • Wants to make a genuine, lasting difference in a school setting

This isn’t a role about control, it’s about connection, consistency, and creativity. It’s about helping students feel understood, giving them tools to express themselves, and guiding them back into learning in a way that works for them. If this sounds like the kind of role you’d thrive in, we’d love to hear from you.
