About the Role
As an SEN EYFS Teacher, you will lead a small, structured classroom of early years pupils.
Your day-to-day focus will be on delivering early developmental milestones through creative, sensory-rich play and structured interventions.
You will work closely with a supportive team of teaching assistants to ensure that individual education plans (IEPs) are met and that children feel safe, valued, and motivated to explore the world around them.
Skills Required
- Adaptability & Creativity: The ability to design and adapt a play-based EYFS curriculum to suit pupils with complex and diverse learning profiles.
- Communication Strategies: Experience using alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables to support non-verbal or pre-verbal learners.
- Positive Behaviour Management: A calm, nurturing, and patient approach, with experience in positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.
- Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, parents, and multidisciplinary therapy teams.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification.
- Previous experience teaching within an SEN setting or working extensively with early years pupils with complex needs.
- Full eligibility to work in the UK (please note, visa sponsorship is not available for this role).
- An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to undergo a new check via Remedy.
