Remedy Tutors are looking for a tutor to work 4 hours a day for 5 days a week (20 hours total) based in a student’s home in Grays, Essex. You will be required to tutor Maths, Science, English Literature and English Language.
Position: Outreach Tutor (Special Educational Needs). Contract Type: Full-time. Salary: Competitive, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, personalised tutoring to students with SEN, both in schools and at home.
- Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles and needs, ensuring all students feel supported and engaged.
- Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and parents to track student progress and adjust learning plans accordingly.
- Foster an inclusive, positive, and encouraging learning environment.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and educational professionals.
- Help students develop their social, emotional, and academic skills.
- Promote independent learning and help students build confidence in their abilities.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally in an outreach or tutoring capacity.
- Knowledge of different SEN categories (e.g., autism, dyslexia, ADHD, speech and language needs).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and school staff.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to a wide range of learning needs.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
- A passion for education and helping children achieve their full potential.
- A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) or relevant SEN training (e.g., SENDCO, SEN TA experience) is desirable but not essential.
