An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and qualified Early Years SEN Teacher to join a highly regarded specialist school in Enfield from September 2026. This role is based at the school's primary site and involves teaching a small class of pupils aged approximately 10 years old who are working at an EYFS developmental level. The successful candidate will create a nurturing, engaging, and highly personalised learning environment where pupils can thrive through play‑based, sensory‑rich experiences tailored to their individual needs. The class includes pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), attention and concentration difficulties, sensory processing differences, and communication needs.

The Role

Teach a small class of approximately 6 pupils aged around 10 years who are working at an EYFS/Key Stage 1 developmental level.

  • Deliver a highly engaging, play‑based curriculum that promotes curiosity, exploration, communication, and independence.
  • Use learning through play, sensory exploration, structured routines, and practical experiences to support progress across all areas of development.
  • Create meaningful learning opportunities focused on communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and life skills.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, Therapists, and the wider SEN team.
  • Use, or be willing to learn, communication approaches such as Makaton, PECS, AAC devices, visual timetables, and sensory strategies.
  • Plan and adapt creative activities that meet individual learning needs and encourage active participation.
About You
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Primary or Early Years trained.
  • Have experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), sensory needs, or complex learning needs in either mainstream or specialist settings.
  • Understand the value of learning through play and child‑centred teaching approaches.
  • Be patient, nurturing, and committed to helping every child achieve their potential.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be able to commit to a long‑term position, with the potential for a permanent role.
