The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide high-quality support both inside and outside the classroom, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with their learning both individually and in small groups.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement.
- Support the social, emotional, and academic development of students.
- Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents where appropriate.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Support pupils with additional learning needs where required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, proactive, and flexible approach.
- Good behaviour management skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's education and development.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, or similar role.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEND, autism, ADHD, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
- Experience working in a primary, secondary, SEN, or alternative provision setting.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or youth work.
