Are you an experienced hairdresser looking for something a little different?
Remedy Education are recruiting a Hairdressing Teacher to work within a specialist SEMH school in Tower Hamlets, supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
This isn't your typical hairdressing role!
The school is looking for someone who can use their practical hairdressing skills to connect with young people, build positive relationships and help pupils develop confidence, self-esteem and emotional regulation.
Many pupils have experienced difficulties within mainstream education and may display challenging behaviour. Hairdressing sessions will be used as a positive intervention to encourage engagement, develop trust and provide valuable life skills.
The Role:
-
Deliver practical haircutting, styling and grooming sessions.
-
Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
-
Use hairdressing to build confidence, trust and positive relationships.
-
Support students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
-
Encourage independence, communication and positive choices.
-
Work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to support pupil development.
What We're Looking For:
-
Level 2 or Level 3 Hairdressing qualification or equivalent experience.
-
Confident in cutting, styling and general hairdressing techniques.
-
Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.
-
Patient, resilient and comfortable managing challenging behaviour.
-
Experience with SEN, SEMH, mentoring or youth work would be advantageous.
-
Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
You don't need to be a qualified teacher! We're particularly interested in experienced hairdressers who enjoy working with young people and want to use their skills to make a genuine difference.
