The Role – 1:1 Teaching Assistant

  • Ability to form a trusting bond with a young female student
  • Supporting a female student with complex needs spanning multiple areas of development
  • Experience in supporting students with difficulties in processing speed, memory and basic literacy
  • Experience in breaking down information using a variety of different methods in order to support learning – ability or willingness to learn how to do this as and when needed, could be in the moment if student experiences difficulty
  • Proficient in using multisensory methods and deploying sensory intervention)) when needed
  • The ability to recognise when a student needs intervention and the ability to distract/defuse/de‑escalate prior to an event
  • enables discovery

  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Strong ability to advocate for the student and use initiative
  • Support social interactions as part of the student\’s ongoing progression
  • Staff member to be intuitive and able to learn the student\’s triggers
