Remedy Education are looking for a caring and confident SEN Teaching Assistant with Makaton training to join a supportive school based in Woodford. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has experience supporting children with special educational needs and can use Makaton to help pupils communicate, build confidence and access learning. The school are looking for someone patient, proactive and reliable who can support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis.

Role Details:

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Woodford
  • Pay: £95-£115 per day
  • Hours: Full-time
  • Start Date: ASAP / September roles available
  • School Type: SEN / Primary School Setting

The Role:

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs
  • Use Makaton to support communication, understanding and engagement
  • Work 1:1 and with small groups to help pupils access learning
  • Support pupils with routines, transitions and emotional regulation
  • Assist the class teacher with activities, resources and differentiated learning
  • Help create a calm, positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Encourage independence, confidence and social interaction
  • Follow behaviour support plans and individual learning targets where required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Makaton training or strong experience using Makaton
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN
  • Experience with ASD, communication needs, non-verbal pupils or complex needs is desirable
  • A patient, calm and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence working 1:1 and in small groups
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
