Are you a nurturing, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to support children with Special Educational Needs in an Early Years setting this September? We are currently working with a welcoming and well-supported SEN provision in Enfield that is looking to appoint a dedicated Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young children at a crucial stage of their development, helping them build confidence, communication skills and independence in a safe and nurturing environment.
About the Setting
The provision supports nursery and reception-aged children with a range of additional needs, including:
- Autism (ASC)
- Speech and Language delays
- ADHD
- Sensory processing needs
- Global developmental delay
- Social, emotional and communication difficulties
The setting provides a structured, caring and play-based learning environment tailored to each child's individual needs.
The Role
- Supporting children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Encouraging communication, interaction and early learning development
- Assisting with sensory play and structured activities
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Following individual learning and support plans
- Assisting with personal care where required
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and parents
- Helping create a calm, engaging and supportive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children with SEN or Early Years pupils
- A calm, caring and patient approach
- Passionate about supporting children's development and wellbeing
- Comfortable supporting non-verbal or pre-verbal children
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Willing to support personal care if needed
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
