Remedy Education is currently recruiting a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a nurturing Primary SEN school in Tottenham, Haringey. If you have a background in healthcare or personal care and want to make a genuine difference in young lives, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, physical disabilities, and speech & language difficulties.
- Support pupils with personal care needs such as feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance while promoting dignity and independence.
- Implement strategies from Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), tailoring learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with class teachers, therapists, and parents/carers to ensure student progress and well-being.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that supports emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Use visual aids and communication tools (such as PECS or Makaton) to enhance understanding and interaction.
Requirements:
- Experience working as a Health Care Assistant or in a care-based role, preferably with children or individuals with additional needs.
- Understanding of SEN conditions, including ASD, ADHD, PMLD, and sensory impairments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathetic, patient, and flexible approach to supporting diverse learners.
- Willingness to undertake personal care responsibilities.
- Must hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, SEN training) is desirable but not essential.
- A CV covering the last 10 years with no unexplained gaps.
