We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Humanities Teacher on behalf of a mainstream Secondary school. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a committed Humanities Teacher looking to join a supportive and innovative environment from September 2026.

The successful Humanities Teacher will be joining a school that specialises in supporting neurodivergent students aged 7-19, providing a nurturing and inclusive setting where every learner is encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

This Humanities Teacher position will involve delivering high-quality Humanities lessons across History and Geography. The successful Humanities Teacher will primarily teach Key Stage 3, with additional teaching responsibilities at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4.

Key responsibilities for the Humanities Teacher include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons as a Humanities Teacher
  • Adapting teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learning needs
  • Supporting students' academic, social and emotional development
  • Contributing to curriculum development in the role of Humanities Teacher
  • Keeping up to date with curriculum changes
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues
  • Managing and directing teaching assistants effectively

The Ideal Humanities Teacher

The school is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher who meets the following criteria:

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working as a Humanities Teacher at secondary level
  • Strong subject knowledge expected of a Humanities Teacher (History, Geography and/or RE)
  • Confidence teaching across key stages, particularly KS3
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons
  • Commitment to inclusive education
  • Strong behaviour management skills

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching GCSE as a Humanities Teacher
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent learners
  • Knowledge of autism-friendly approaches
  • Experience working with KS2
  • Willingness to contribute to wider school life
