A mainstream primary school in Newham is seeking a Specialist Behaviour Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role is suited to individuals with experience in behaviour support and a strong interest in helping children reach their potential. Applicants with backgrounds in sports coaching, psychology, youth work, or specialist SEMH provisions are encouraged to apply. Training in Positive Handling, Team Teach, MAPA or similar will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Implement strategies to encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Support pupils in class, during interventions and in less structured parts of the school day
- Work alongside teachers, parents and professionals to ensure consistent support
