We are working with a school in East London seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with very complex needs. This is a highly rewarding role suited to someone experienced, resilient and confident working with pupils who require a high level of support.
The successful candidate will work closely with the pupil throughout the school day, providing consistent support to help them access learning, manage sensory and behavioural needs and remain safe and regulated.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex and additional needs
- Support learning, engagement and emotional regulation
- Assist with personal care, including toileting and hygiene when required
- Support communication using visuals, PECS or alternative communication methods
- Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Maintain clear routines and a calm, structured approach
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience supporting pupils with complex needs (essential)
- Be calm, patient and emotionally resilient
- Confident supporting behaviour that can be challenging
- Comfortable with personal care
- Able to work consistently with the same pupil
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
