Remedy Education is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision within a primary school in Barking Riverside.
The role involves supporting a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class with a range of complex Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASD), communication difficulties and pre-verbal pupils.
We are looking for someone who is confident, energetic, proactive and experienced in supporting children with complex needs.
The Role
- Support children with ASD, complex SEND and communication difficulties.
- Work closely with pre-verbal and non-verbal pupils.
- Provide intimate and personal care support when required.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and challenging behaviour.
- Encourage engagement, independence and communication.
- Work within a busy, active classroom environment.
Requirements
- Previous hands-on experience supporting children with complex SEND.
- Experience working with pre-verbal or non-verbal pupils.
- Confident and willing to provide intimate care - essential.
- Experience managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional regulation.
- Physically active, patient and able to remain calm in demanding situations.
- A proactive approach and ability to work independently.
This position requires genuine practical SEND experience due to the needs of the class.
