About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). This is a deeply rewarding role where you'll work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide highly individualised care and education to students with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with PMLD in both group and 1:1 settings
  • Assist with personal care including feeding, and moving & handling (training provided)
  • Use a range of communication methods including Makaton, PECS, and sensory approaches
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to their review
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with families and outside agencies

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young adults with complex needs (desirable but not essential)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training, including manual handling and medical protocols
