Role Overview

We are working with a range of SEN schools in Chelmsford (primary and secondary settings) who are looking for dedicated SEN Teachers to join their teams immediately. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Teach pupils across primary and/or secondary SEN settings depending on placement
  • Adapt curriculum content to meet a wide range of additional needs and abilities
  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress
  • Use a range of strategies to support communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with SEN support staff, therapists, and wider school teams
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress in line with school expectations
  • Implement and follow EHCP targets and individual learning plans
  • Support positive behaviour management strategies across the classroom

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • PGCE or equivalent training
  • Experience or strong interest in SEN education (primary or secondary)
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
  • Commitment to inclusive education and supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
