About Remarkable Minds
Remarkable Minds connects parents of children with additional needs to tutors specialising in SEND. Our fast-growing network comprises over 400 specialists and tutors, all enhanced DBS-checked and ID-verified, working with families across the UK.
The Role
We are recruiting a qualified dyslexia specialist to deliver one-to-one structured literacy tuition to two children from the same family in Newnham, Cambridge: an 11-year-old with ADHD and dyslexia, and a 9-year-old who is currently going through a dyslexia assessment.
The older child is at the start of secondary school. He needs someone who can teach him to read, write, and spell in a way that works for a dyslexic learner with ADHD, and who can keep sessions short, active, and structured enough to hold his attention.
The younger child is in upper Key Stage 2 and is showing the same difficulties with reading and spelling; his parents want him supported now rather than waiting for the assessment to finish. English comes first for both; maths support may be added later.
The family wants a consistent specialist who can build a daily rhythm with the children: a session every weekday after school and two hours on Saturday, with the time shared between the two of them across the week. It suits a tutor with regular late-afternoon availability who is happy to work at the weekend.
The role involves:
- Delivering one-to-one sessions at the family home in Newnham, Cambridge, working with each child in turn
- Assessing where each child is with phonics, decoding, spelling, reading fluency and writing, and building a structured, cumulative, multi-sensory literacy programme for each of them from there
- Planning sessions that work for ADHD: clear structure, short chunks, movement breaks and regular wins
What We Offer
- A regular flow of work. We match tutors to assignments that fit their subjects, key stages and experience. There is no bidding process and no competing on price
- Flexibility. You choose which assignments to accept. Most of our sessions take place after school, in the evenings and at weekends
- Continuity. Families typically remain with the same tutor, allowing you to build a sustained working relationship
- No joining fee and no minimum commitment
As we are looking to place this family quickly, we will respond to suitable applicants within one working day.
