Parent Governor for Wargrave House School — Volunteer role with Remarkable Autism Ltd. Do you want to help shape the future of our school? We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Parent Governor to join our Governing Board at Wargrave House School, a non-maintained special school supporting children and young people with special educational needs. This is a rewarding voluntary role and a chance to make a real difference to the lives of pupils and families.

As a Parent Governor, you will be a full and equal member of the Governing Board, working with other governors and senior leaders to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the school. Parent Governors bring an important parental perspective to discussions, but do not represent individual parents or deal with individual concerns. The role is strategic rather than operational and does not involve day-to-day involvement in the running of the school.

As Parent Governor, you will:

  • Attend Governing Body meetings (typically 4-6 per year) and Committee Meetings (typically 4-6 per year)
  • Read papers and prepare for meetings
  • Take part in training and development
  • Support and constructively challenge school leaders
  • Help ensure the school continues to provide the best possible education and care for its learners

The time commitment is approximately 6-10 hours per month, and some meetings may take place during the school day.

We are seeking an individual who is the parent or carer of a child currently enrolled at Wargrave House School, who brings integrity, curiosity, and sound judgement, alongside:

  • A strong commitment to improving outcomes for autistic young people
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to provide constructive challenge
  • An interest in learning and developing within a complex, mission-led organisation

If you have the skills, perspective, and motivation to help Wargrave House School thrive safely and sustainably, we would love to hear from you. You can apply by simply visiting our career page. We are passionate about creating a diverse workforce and positively encourage applications from under-represented communities.

We are committed to an inclusive and accessible recruitment process and participate in the Disability Confident scheme, ensuring all candidates are considered fairly and supported where needed. Our aim is to recruit quality staff for both academic and support roles in a fair, structured and supportive manner.

In accordance with recent updates to KCSIE 2025 (Keeping Children Safe in Education) guidance, we will be performing online searches and requesting references for all shortlisted candidates. Please note: appointment will be subject to proof of right to work in the UK, satisfactory references, and an enhanced DBS check.

Closing Date: 23/02/26 Interviews: Dates to be arranged directly. Remarkable is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
