Remade Worcestershire is a growing charity and social enterprise, created following the closure of Worcestershire Resource Exchange (WRE). We promote sustainable living through the creative reuse of non-toxic industrial waste, mainly textiles and haberdashery.

Our aim is to inspire action on climate change by diverting materials from landfill and offering them to schools, community groups, and individuals through our city-centre shop and outreach activities. We also offer volunteering and work experience opportunities to a wide range of people.

Job overview

This is a key leadership role for someone who is both a strong organiser and a confident people manager. You will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the shop, overseeing a small team, and working with over 30 volunteers. You will ensure that time, people and resources are effectively managed so that our activities are well-planned and aligned with organisational priorities.

The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills and the ability to delegate and guide others with clarity and purpose. You’ll be able to balance hands-on operational duties with forward planning and team leadership, always ensuring that deadlines are met and opportunities are maximised.

Main responsibilities

·Leadership and team management: Supervise and support staff and volunteers, giving clear direction, delegating tasks effectively, and ensuring shared priorities are understood and met.

·Shop and operations oversight: Lead on all aspects of shop presentation, stock flow, and public-facing activities to create a welcoming, well-run space for customers and community members.

·Time and project planning: Plan ahead and manage the team’s workload so that all key tasks (including events and shows) are delivered on time and to a high standard.

·Income generation and outreach: Identify and develop opportunities to raise income through markets, events, and community workshops.

·Policy and process adherence: Ensure health and safety, safeguarding, equality, and volunteer management policies are followed consistently across all activities.

·Funding development: Work with the board to secure funding for new projects, including digital growth and online sales.

·Community and partnership building: Build strong relationships with community groups and local organisations to expand Remade’s impact.

·Financial management: Keep clear and accurate financial records and submit them regularly to the bookkeeper; track volunteer hours and other key metrics.

·Reporting: Produce updates and reports for the board, and help with strategic and budget planning.

·Communications: Keep the website and social media channels up to date; produce monthly newsletters for volunteers and the public.

·Representation: Act as a public ambassador for Remade at events and meetings, in coordination with the board.

·Additional duties: Carry out any other duties relevant to the role as required.

Person specification

Essential:

·Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate and direct others

·Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a calm and focused approach to prioritising work

·Strong communication and interpersonal skills

·Experience managing a shop, project or small organisation

·Confident in using websites, digital tools and social media

·Friendly and supportive, with a community-minded ethos

·Passion for sustainability, creativity, and reuse

·Clean UK driving license

Desirable:

·Experience of income generation or fundraising

·Knowledge of textiles, crafts, or reuse practices

·Experience working with volunteers and community groups

·Arts or craft skills

Terms of employment

·Pay: £16.55 per hour (approx. £30,000 FTE based on 37.5 hours/week)

·Contract: Subject to continued income from shop sales and external funding

·Hours: 22.5–26 hours per week (negotiable)

·Holidays: Pro rata based on full-time equivalent

·Flexibility: Occasional weekend working with time off in lieu

·Support: A social enterprise mentor is available
