A large e-commerce retailer is seeking a Logistics Director to take responsibility for the movement of goods through various warehouses and distribution centres, dealing with B2B and B2C consignments, along with pick/pack dispatch, internal stock movements, and ongoing logistics via numerous third-party delivery providers.
You will introduce KPIs and report to the board regarding performance. Strong project planning, tracking, and organisational skills are essential. This is a new senior role within a well-established, dynamic, and fast-growing company, reflecting the needs of a growing business. You will be joining a motivated and capable team with a “can do” attitude and a desire for continual improvement. We are not looking for someone to fix something that is broken, rather to bring a new perspective to improve upon that which is already very good.
This is a great opportunity for the right person as we do not currently have an operations and logistics director. Salary is very much negotiable for the right person. Group turnover is more than £140 million, with an average stock holding of more than £30 million.
You will need to have demonstrable knowledge of:
- People management: You will inherit a well-established management structure, but the ongoing development of individuals and teams is crucial as our people are our greatest asset. It is important that we help people grow within our organisation. You will be expected to motivate, inspire, and mentor the various teams.
- Warehouse management systems and processes.
- Organisation skills: Must be extremely well organised and capable of understanding and dealing with complex issues.
- An ability to identify, define, and execute operational improvements across the board, with a particular focus on maximising speed and efficiency of the pick/pack dispatch process.
- Negotiating with third-party providers and having a good understanding of the delivery network system.
- An ability to develop and maintain good working relations with the senior management team across various departments, with common goals and reporting directly to the M.D.
