About the role
This position performs moderately difficult research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line. The position should have the ability to work on individual pieces of work and solve problems including the design of the program flow of individual pieces of code, effective coding, and unit testing.
Key responsibilities
- Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
- Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
- Complete complex bug fixes.
- Implement and guide others to continuous integration, delivery, and deployment software delivery practices.
- Work closely with other development team members to understand the product's complex requirements and translate them into software designs.
- Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
- Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Resolve complex intermediate technical issues, as necessary.
- Pair Programming with squad members to support the learning and development of others.
- Develop skills to mentor less senior software developers on development methodologies and optimisation techniques.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Approximately 3+ years of experience in software engineering or a related technical role.
- Practical experience gained through professional work, education, or equivalent hands‑on learning.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical partners.
- Working knowledge of data manipulation languages.
- Understanding of data modelling principles and complex data structures.
- Experience with one or more development languages (e.g., C#, Progress Open Edge, TypeScript).
- Familiarity with industry best practices, such as code coverage and code reviews.
- Ability to contribute to technical specifications and design discussions.
- Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
- Experience with test‑driven development or similar quality‑focused practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex issues.
