About Elsevier: Elsevier is a global leader in information analytics, helping institutions and professionals advance science, improve healthcare, and drive innovation for the benefit of humanity. We serve the research, academic, and clinical communities through advanced data, analytics, and workflow solutions that accelerate discovery and improve performance at scale.

The Role: We are seeking a Strategic Engagement Manager (SEM) to lead large-scale, multi-institutional partnerships within our Life Sciences portfolio. This role focuses on building long-term collaborations with governments, research organizations, and academic consortia to address national and regional research priorities. You will work with senior leaders across science, policy, and data strategy to shape complex, high-value initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect integrated, portfolio-based solutions leveraging Elsevier’s Life Sciences offerings (e.g., Reaxys, Embase, Embiology, Pharmapendium, AI and point solutions, LeapSpace).
  • Develop and lead long-term strategic engagements with national and multi-institutional research stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders across research, funding, and policy environments.
  • Identify and shape complex, high-value opportunities aligned to research and innovation priorities.
  • Design integrated, portfolio-based solutions using Elsevier Life Sciences products and services.
  • Lead consultative discovery conversations to understand needs and define measurable value.
  • Coordinate multi-stakeholder, multi-year engagements from early strategy through agreement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams to support engagement delivery and outcomes.
  • Navigate public sector procurement, governance, and consortium decision-making processes.
  • Partner with Customer Success teams to support adoption, value realization, and growth.
  • Share market insights and feedback to inform product development and commercial strategy.

Requirements:

  • 7 years of experience leading complex, consultative engagements in data, analytics, technology, or research-focused environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage long cycle, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Confidence working with senior decision makers and executive level stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.
  • Experience shaping solutions that combine multiple products or services.
  • Collaborative approach to working across diverse internal and external teams.
  • Commercial awareness, including business case development and value articulation.
  • Comfort working within public sector, academic, or research ecosystems.
  • Ability to adapt to different cultural, organizational, and policy contexts.
  • Relevant professional experience or equivalent transferable skills (advanced degrees welcome but not required).
