Cell Press is launching a prestigious new journal focused on biotechnology research. The Editor‑in‑Chief will shape and lead this journal, developing its mission, attracting high‑impact submissions, and building a dynamic editorial team. The role is full‑time, with location flexibility near one of Cell Press’s offices worldwide. If hired in the UK, the position falls under the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) bargaining unit.

Responsibilities

  • Define the aims, scope, and formats for the journal, ensuring a broad, impactful, and cohesive vision.
  • Leverage a strong network of leading researchers to attract world‑class article submissions.
  • Travel extensively to engage with the research community, attend conferences, and visit research institutes.
  • Recruit, manage, and mentor the in‑house editorial team, coordinating rigorous evaluation of submissions to maintain quality.
  • Develop partnerships with Cell Press editorial teams and collaborate with Operations, Marketing, and Press to support the journal’s publishing strategy.
