As a Software Engineering Infrastructure Manager, you will lead the design, evolution, and operation of secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure platforms. You will support engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate customer-facing services with confidence while balancing reliability, modernisation, and developer productivity. This role combines technical leadership, strategic thinking, and a focus on delivering measurable outcomes for global customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop Infrastructure and Platform engineers, fostering a high-performance, ownership-driven engineering culture.
- Set clear expectations, measure outcomes, and drive continuous improvement aligned to engineering and leadership principles.
- Own the availability, performance, and resilience of infrastructure platforms supporting applications, data pipelines, and customer-facing services.
- Embed reliability practices including monitoring, alerting, incident management, and post-incident reviews.
- Drive cloud-first and platform-led strategies to improve scalability, security, and speed to market.
- Define and evolve infrastructure roadmaps aligned with product strategy and long-term growth.
- Champion infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and self-service platforms to improve developer experience.
- Manage infrastructure budgets, cloud spend, vendors, and procurement decisions with a commercial mindset.
Qualifications
- Experience leading infrastructure, platform, DevOps, or SRE teams in a product-focused, customer-facing environment.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), infrastructure as code, CI/CD, container platforms, and modern networking patterns.
- Experience supporting data-intensive or high-availability platforms.
- Ability to collaborate with Product, Data, and Software Engineering leaders and communicate effectively across stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills in complex, distributed systems with a focus on long-term reliability improvements.
- Experience driving automation and improving developer productivity.
- Understanding of security, compliance, backup, recovery, and resilience practices.
- Ability to manage vendors, costs, and technical decision-making with a commercial perspective.
