As a Senior Java Software Engineer II, you will build capabilities to support scientific researchers through the process of submitting research for publication. We are continually evolving our technology in response to researchers' needs and to the ever‑changing technical landscape, including the use of AI technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy applications in a cloud‑hosted distributed system to build our next‑generation product.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify requirements and gather feedback in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Provide input into architectural decisions to ensure stability and performance.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to continually improve our delivery process.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience as a Senior Java Software Engineer with a track record of building scalable applications.
  • Proficiency with Java 17 or higher and Spring/Spring Boot.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Experience with SQL and a willingness to learn other database technologies.
  • Experience with build tools, Git, and continuous integration (GitHub Actions or Jenkins).
  • Familiarity with alerting, monitoring, and logging tools (e.g., NewRelic, OpenSearch/Kibana).
  • Proficiency with IntelliJ or VSCode and refactoring tools.
  • Experience with test‑driven development and mocking libraries (Jest, Mockito).
  • Familiarity with collaborative documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence.
