About the role: This position serves as a Software Engineering lead for a specific team of Software Engineers. In addition to writing code on complex systems and applications, this position has direct responsibilities for delivery and line management of core engineering roles within their team. Responsibilities:
- Working closely with other Development team members to understand product requirements and translate them into software designs.
- Implementing development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
- Operating in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Completing complex bug fixes, resolving technical issues, and working with complex data models.
- Managing your team, including interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, and giving appropriate feedback.
- Providing accurate effort and cost estimates for deliverables.
- Encouraging new ideas from staff to foster improvements through innovations and empowering them to be accountable.
- Seeking diverse ideas and perspectives from a variety of sources to create better solutions, products and services.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to convey information clearly to a wide audience.
- Have the ability to partner with and lead internal and external technology resources to solve business needs.
- Have good knowledge of test-driven development/BDD testing Frameworks Junit, Selenium, Cucumber/Gherkin and industry best practices.
- Effective monitoring, alerting and visualisation (Kibana, Elasticsearch).
- Have an excellent understanding of data modeling principles, data manipulation languages, and storage systems.
- Be an expert in development languages Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka/SQS and Microservices.
- Show an aptitude for achieving business objectives through managing others.
- Be able to demonstrate excellent organizational skills when dealing with multiple priorities, and be able to think analytically.
- Be a natural problem solver and able to take a lead in collaborating to resolve issues.
