About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic scientist to join the Cell Press Life and Biomedical science portfolio. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and unique team where you may primarily work with a specific journal that aligns with your research expertise while becoming familiar with multiple other Cell Press family journals across a broad range of scientific topics, supporting editors and authors to optimize overall publishing success, and working on cross‑journal projects and initiatives for Cell Press. We are especially interested in candidates with a strong expertise in immunology, microbiology, stem cell biology, cancer biology, and/or biotechnology but encourage applications from all research backgrounds in the life and biomedical sciences.
You will be closely engaged in all aspects of editorial work at Cell Press. Cell Press is an international organization with primary offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts; London; Amsterdam; and Beijing. This is a full‑time editorial position, and we have a preference for candidates located near our Amsterdam NL or our London or Oxford UK offices.

Responsibilities
- Establish relationships with diverse editorial teams.
- Assess submitted research papers and oversee the peer review and editorial process.
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond.
- Guide authors through various aspects of the publishing process.
- Represent Cell Press at scientific meetings and visits to research institutions.
- Contribute to broader Cell Press initiatives to shape the future of science communication.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant area (immunology, microbiology, stem cell biology, cancer biology, or biotechnology).
- Passion for critical thinking across a wide range of scientific issues, with willingness to learn new areas of research.
- Ability to work flexibly and creatively, with a willingness to experiment and a desire to enhance author service.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with a collaborative problem‑solving mindset.
- Interest in engaging with the scientific community.
- Talent for distilling complex concepts and communicating them effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with interest in science communication and publishing trends.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and focus to achieve overall team goals.
Preferred location: Amsterdam NL, London, or Oxford UK offices.
