Overview

Associate Scientific Editor – Author Heroes team. You will use your PhD and author experience to support researchers in scholarly publication, advancing science, improving health outcomes, and fostering equitable participation in publishing.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate content in partnership with external editors.
  • Improve the editorial process for editors and reviewers iteratively.
  • Engage closely with authors to help them improve manuscripts.
  • Manage the editorial process from submission through peer review to the final decision.
  • Help authors increase their odds of success in being published in another journal if rejected from their first choice.
  • Recruit and manage external editors, holding them to the same standard.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Life or Food Science.
  • Doctoral or post‑doctoral experience in chemistry or health (cancer).
  • Professional level of written and spoken English.
  • Results‑driven, enthusiastic work attitude.
  • Record of publishing papers in scientific journals.
  • Technology‑savvy and familiar with online platforms, social media, and digital content.
  • Excellent communication skills and written and spoken English.
  • Self‑starter who builds relationships across the scientific community and Elsevier.
