The role
Material Index is on the lookout for an ambitious, detail-driven material reuse surveyor (auditor) to join our growing material audit team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of sustainable construction by uncovering the hidden potential of buildings. As part of the material audit team, you'll be working at the frontline of the circular economy, surveying sites across London and the UK, cataloguing materials, and feeding insights back into design and digital product teams to help them achieve ambitious reuse targets. This is not your typical surveying role: you'll combine technical expertise with design sensibility, sustainability know-how, and clear communication to influence real project outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Lead site-based surveys across the UK, using our proprietary Material Index platform
- Review and interpret technical drawings and documentation
- Conduct materials research and assess reuse potential
- Collect, structure and analyse data at building and component scale
- Prepare clear and engaging audit reports for planning, BREEAM and design teams
- Present findings and insights to design and project teams
- Contribute towards digital product development
Desirable Skills
- A diverse software skill set, including Revit, BIM
- Knowledge of UK-based construction methodology and organisation, historical and current
- Good verbal presentation skills, data visualisation and graphic design
