The Role
This is a hands-on leadership position where you will take full ownership of the operational success of the branch. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will lead the team, manage fleet compliance, oversee warehouse operations, and ensure every move runs smoothly. You will be the driving force behind efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction—balancing strategic oversight with day-to-day problem-solving.
Your key focus areas:
- Fleet & Compliance Management
- Maintain full HGV operator compliance including vehicle maintenance, tachograph management, and drivers' hours
- Ensure all legal and Traffic Commissioner undertakings are met
- Manage MOT schedules, inspections, and defect reporting systems
- Warehouse & Resource Management
- Oversee warehouse operations, storage administration, and container movements
- Manage inventory, crate usage tracking, and maximise warehouse capacity
- Lead and motivate the warehouse team to deliver exceptional results
- Team Leadership
- Manage and develop foremen, porters, and drivers to achieve high performance
- Handle operational diaries, timesheets, expenses, and holiday planning
- Foster a professional, motivated, and efficient team culture
- Customer & Client Relations
- Act as the primary operational contact for clients and resolve queries effectively
- Support the Branch Manager with complaints, damage reports, and correspondence
- Ensure seamless communication throughout every customer journey
What We're Looking For
You will be an experienced operations professional with a strong background in removals or logistics. You understand transport legislation, fleet management, and the importance of compliance.
