Fine art and specialist logistics is one of the most fascinating corners of the transport world — one day you're planning the safe collection of a gallery installation, the next you're routing a fleet across the country for a high-value relocation. No two weeks look the same, and the work genuinely matters to the clients who trust you with it.
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, specialist logistics operator for a Transport Logistics Supervisor to join their transport leadership team. This is a desk-based, planning-heavy role at the heart of the operation — you'll be the person keeping the wheels turning (literally) behind the scenes.
You don't need art industry experience. What you do need is genuine transport and logistics know-how, and — most importantly — real confidence managing drivers and crews.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing rotas and availability for 15+ drivers and technicians, scheduling collections and deliveries and keeping resources optimally allocated
- Planning and coordinating weekly domestic logistics activity, with the flexibility to adapt when plans change at short notice
- Providing phone support to drivers on the road and acting as a calm, capable point of contact when things go sideways
- Monitoring driver hours, CPC compliance and holiday/timekeeping alongside line managers
- Coordinating vehicle servicing, MOTs and workshop visits
- Assisting with import/export customs processes for cross-border jobs
- Building strong client relationships, providing quotations and follow-up
- Working closely with Projects, Shipping, Customs and Warehouse teams, plus supporting recruitment and onboarding of new drivers
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in transport, fleet planning, logistics or distribution
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience
- A proper grafter — hardworking, hands-on and happy to get stuck in rather than just delegate
- Someone who can confidently manage a wide range of driver personalities: give clear direction, hold people accountable, and stay unflustered under pressure
- Excellent UK geographical knowledge
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
- A proactive problem-solver, comfortable thinking on your feet
- Comfortable being contactable by mobile/WhatsApp outside normal hours for urgent driver queries — this isn't routine out-of-hours working, just being reachable when genuinely needed
What's on offer:
- £40,000 salary
- Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm (1-hour lunch) — no weekend working
- A genuinely varied, fast-paced role at the centre of a specialist logistics operation
- The chance to join a close-knit transport leadership team where your planning and organisation make a real, visible difference
If you're a transport professional who thrives on keeping plates spinning, loves a challenge, and wants to bring that skill into a genuinely interesting corner of the logistics world — we'd love to hear from you.
