As Assistant Vice President, Product Innovation, you’ll play a key role in turning emerging risks, new industries and market opportunities into scalable insurance products. This is a hands-on, technically focused role for someone who understands insurance products and wordings deeply, but also enjoys looking ahead, spotting opportunities and building something new. You’ll take ownership of complex product development workstreams from initial idea through to launch, working closely with Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, Distribution and senior leadership across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Own key product innovation workstreams from concept through development, launch and ongoing lifecycle management.
• Translate strategic priorities into tangible insurance products, including policy wordings, endorsements, coverage structures and product frameworks.
• Identify and assess opportunities within emerging and rapidly evolving sectors, building clear, evidence-based recommendations for senior leadership.
• Research market developments, competitor activity and sector trends to help ensure Relm remains ahead of the curve.
• Lead the development of products designed for new and emerging industries, from initial sector research through to go-to-market.
• Work closely with Underwriting, Legal, Compliance and Distribution to ensure products are commercially relevant, technically robust and regulatory compliant.
• Review and approve product documentation, including policy wordings, product guides and positioning materials.
• Build relationships with brokers, clients, industry bodies and businesses operating within target sectors to understand where insurance solutions are needed most.
• Act as a senior subject matter expert across the business on product, wording and emerging-sector matters.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and support to junior members of the Product Innovation team.
• Contribute to wider Product Innovation and cross-functional initiatives as Relm continues to grow globally.

What we’re looking for

• Around 8 years’ experience within insurance product development, underwriting, wordings or a closely related specialty insurance discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of insurance products, policy wordings, coverage structures and market dynamics.
• Experience independently managing complex product or underwriting workstreams with limited supervision.
• A strong commercial mindset and the ability to assess whether an emerging opportunity can translate into a viable insurance product.
• Experience working collaboratively across Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, Distribution and other business functions.
• Confidence engaging with brokers, clients and senior internal stakeholders.
• Experience supporting, coaching or overseeing junior colleagues.
• Curiosity for emerging industries such as digital assets, fintech, biotech, gambling and other rapidly developing sectors.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn complex concepts into clear recommendations.
• Professional qualifications such as ACII or CPCU are desirable but not essential.
