Moulding Production Lead Location: Batley, WF17 Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: £14.75 per hour Reliant Rubber Engineers is looking for an experienced and hands-on Production Lead to take day-to-day responsibility for the organisation, performance and output of our growing rubber moulding department. Working directly with the Production Manager and Head of Production and Works, you will lead the moulding team and take ownership of daily production – organising workloads, allocating people and machinery, maintaining quality and safety standards, resolving production issues and ensuring orders are completed efficiently and on time. This is a shop-floor leadership role for someone who takes responsibility, sets standards and knows how to get the best from people and production processes. Key Responsibilities: Take ownership of the day-to-day running of the moulding department, including people, machinery, workload and production priorities. Plan and organise daily production to achieve required output, quality and delivery targets. Allocate work effectively across compression and injection moulding operations, balancing priorities, available capacity and customer deadlines. Lead, support and hold the moulding team accountable for performance, productivity, quality, attendance and working standards. Ensure urgent and priority orders are identified, communicated and progressed effectively. Maintain high standards of Health and Safety, ensuring procedures, risk controls and safe working practices are consistently followed. Ensure products are manufactured to the required specification and in accordance with Reliant's quality procedures and process controls. Identify and respond quickly to production problems including machinery breakdowns, material shortages, quality issues and process deviations, escalating where appropriate. Monitor material usage, waste and scrap and actively work to reduce avoidable losses. Maintain excellent housekeeping and ensure machinery, workstations and shared production areas are kept clean, organised and safe. Control start times, breaks, changeovers and end-of-shift clean-down to maximise productive working time. Develop the capabilities of the moulding team through coaching, mentoring and identification of training requirements. Support improvements to moulding processes, tooling, machinery, workflow and working methods. Provide clear daily communication to the team on workload, priorities, problems and expectations. Attend production meetings and provide the Production Manager and Head of Production and Works with clear updates on output, capacity, issues and departmental performance. About You We are looking for somebody who combines strong production leadership with a practical, hands-on approach. You will ideally have: Previous experience leading or supervising people within a manufacturing or production environment. Strong organisational skills and the ability to control a busy production workload. The confidence to set standards, make decisions and hold people accountable. A practical understanding of manufacturing processes, machinery and production problem-solving. A strong focus on quality, productivity, safety and on-time delivery. The ability to remain calm and decisive when priorities change or production problems arise. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production, engineering and management colleagues. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and developing better ways of working. Full training will be provided on company machinery, materials, and production processes.
