An opportunity to work on our BAM Nuttall/Keir JV project in Plymouth, spanning over the next 5 years. PAYE basis. Salary £400 - £440 Per Day Depending On Experience/qualifications. Paid Holidays: 30 days per year (including bank holidays).

Must Have:

  • Time-served Mechanical engineer or equivalent (e.g., NVQ Level 3)
  • CSCS Gold Card – Pipefitter, Mechanical Engineer or equivalent
  • SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) or SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • Strong working knowledge of Mechanical systems and safe isolation practices
  • Demonstrable experience supervising Mechanical installation works on construction or industrial projects
  • Ability to interpret Mechanical drawings, RAMS, and permit-to-work systems
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • A proactive safety-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge unsafe work
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • First Aid / Emergency First Aid at Work

This role is site based - Monday to Friday. 45 hours per week 07:30am - 17:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Mechanical works to ensure compliance with safe systems of work, permits, specifications, and drawings
  • Support the Authorised Person (AP) in maintaining effective Mechanical safety systems
  • Supervise Mechanical operatives and subcontractors, ensuring correct competence, training, and authorisation
  • Ensure RAMS and permits are fully understood and followed on site
  • Identify, report, and escalate Mechanical hazards and unsafe conditions
  • Manage testing, flushing, pressure testing, and commissioning activities
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and clear safety communications
  • Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and planners to ensure safe work sequencing
  • Maintain inspection, calibration, and equipment records
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
  • Promote a strong Mechanical safety culture and continuous improvement
  • Support mentoring and competence development of Mechanical personnel
