Job Description

A brand-new opportunity has arisen for an experienced lawyer to join the legal team at Relevent Football Partners as Senior Counsel, Media.

They specialise in delivering top-tier commercial partnerships, innovative marketing strategies, and exceptional brand representation on a global scale. Their mission is to maximise value for their clients through strategic collaborations and innovative revenue-generating opportunities.

Following the UC3 tender process, Relevent Football Partners was awarded the commercial rights to the UEFA men’s club competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League) on a global basis for the 2027 to 2033 cycle.

As such, Relevent Football Partners is now seeking to build a truly world class business focused on the monetisation of these commercial rights.

Role Overview

Reporting into the Legal Director, Media you will play a key role in the media legal team ensuring it fulfills its primary role of assisting robust tender processes and the negotiation and execution of all media rights contracts globally across the UEFA Men’s Club Competitions. This will include working closely with the media strategy and sales teams and the commercial affairs team to deliver those processes and deals alongside UC3.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Legal Director, Media in providing dedicated legal support for the Media team, primarily through assisting with the management of tender processes and negotiating high value, innovative and industry leading agreements globally and ensuring beneficial long-term contracts.
  • Supporting the Media strategy and sales teams in the planning and execution of successful deal structuring and strategy.
  • Assisting the Commercial Affairs team and UC3 in successfully managing robust tender processes in relevant markets.
  • Assisting the relevant relationship management teams in the life-cycle management of multiple licensees and their agreements.
  • Advising on day-to-day queries that arise in respect of related commercial matters impacting the business.
  • Working closely with members of the wider legal team and with the UC3 legal team to ensure effective collaboration and interaction. Working with and managing external legal counsel, as required.

About You

The successful candidate will be driven, ambitious, positive and hardworking, with a proactive approach. You will have at least 5-7 years of post-qualification experience including in the sports industry, covering the negotiation of complex and high-value media rights agreements.

We are looking for candidates with excellent technical legal skills alongside strong strategic thinking.

You will need a detailed working knowledge of the international sports media landscape, particularly with regards to media exploitation and related emerging trends.
