The Director of International Sales is responsible for driving the global sales strategy, expanding market presence, and achieving international revenue targets for the company’s consumer products. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with international distributors, retailers, and partners.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement an international sales strategy aligned with the company’s overall objectives. Identify and evaluate growth opportunities in new and existing markets. Establish sales forecasts and performance metrics for international markets.
- Market Development: Understand needs of international market and business trends to understand consumer behaviour, trends, and competitive landscapes in different regions. Oversee the launch and positioning of products in diverse international markets. Identify and establish relationships with distributors, retailers, and key accounts while also looking for opportunities to enter new markets that do not currently have distribution.
- Revenue Growth: Drive sales to achieve or exceed revenue targets and profitability goals. Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions as needed. Develop pricing strategies tailored to specific markets.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with international clients, distributors, and strategic partners. Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and client meetings. Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring alignment with the company’s values and standards. Manage timelines and information flow for internal teams and act as the liaison between distributors and our internal teams.
- Reporting and Analytics: Track and analyse sales data, providing regular updates to senior management. Create reports on market performance, sales activities, and competitive intelligence. Use insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes. Manage annual forecast, both topline and at item level, and report changes on a monthly basis.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Experience: 8-10+ years of experience in international sales, preferably in consumer products. Proven track record of achieving revenue growth in diverse markets. Experience managing a sales team and working in a cross-cultural environment.
- Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of international trade regulations and market dynamics. Proficiency in CRM tools and sales analytics software. Multilingual skills are a plus.
