One of the UK's leading Five Red Star country house hotels, Palé Hall is a destination for luxury and culinary indulgence. Situated at the Snowdonia National Park, this historic Victorian mansion features eighteen bedrooms and suites and four charming garden suites within the estate grounds. With plans for significant investment and growth over the coming months, this is a really exciting place to be!

We are strengthening our Nights team with an additional Night Porter to work three to four shifts per week on a rota basis including bank holidays and weekends. This is an important role in helping to ensure the safety and security of the building and our guests during the moonlight hours. Full training will be given, and preference will be given to candidates with a security background. Reliability is crucial, together with a strong sense of vigilance, initiative and the confidence to react swiftly and effectively to any issues that arise during the night.

Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK, and be confident that they can commute to the hotel within the shift patterns of 10pm – 7am.

  • To provide an alert and vigilant Front of House presence overnight with a calm and discreet service.
  • To be fully familiar with the overnight house count of guests, staff and visitors in-house for evacuation purposes.
  • To take a detailed handover from the late receptionist and Duty Manager at the beginning of the shift, and to communicate a handover to the early receptionist the following morning, advising of any guest requirements such as wake‑up calls and Room Service, and reporting any issues, concerns and guest feedback.
  • To answer internal and external calls throughout the night, via either the main switchboard telephone or the night porters’ mobile phone.
  • To personally welcome guests arriving late at night, assisting with luggage, valet parking cars and ensuring their comfort.
  • To fulfil Room Service orders from the night menu, being fully familiar with the components and presentation of each dish, and the location of the various ingredients within the kitchen.
  • To carry out regular and thorough internal patrols of the building, ensuring that doors and windows are fastened/locked where required and that the entrances and exits are secure, noting any maintenance requirements and any areas where the procedures/protocol may be improved.
  • To be familiar with the fire alarm control panels, being competent in reading the displays, the location of the detector heads when activated, and the procedure for silencing/re‑setting the alarms as required.
  • To ensure that the guest areas, particularly the lounges, are clear and tidy whilst still in use during the remainder of the evening with tables cleared promptly and polished and cushions plumped.
  • To tidy and close the lounges when all guests have retired for the night, switching off lights, dampening down the fires and locking the doors.
  • To carry out cleaning duties as per the key tasks sheet.
  • To monitor the open fires until they are fully extinguished, clearing the grates and re‑laying the fires with fresh kindling and logs for the following morning.
  • To check empty bedrooms and ensure that lights are off and windows closed.

A background in security and/or night work is an advantage. A high standard of personal grooming is essential. Thoroughness, vigilance, attention to detail and a positive mental attitude.
